Learn which devices and operating systems support enrollment with Kandji

Overview

Nearly all Apple devices are supported. Windows, Android, or other non-Apple devices are not supported. You can read our platform overview for more information about Kandji.

Computers

Kandji allows the management of the following supported computers with a combination of Apple's MDM framework and Kandji's proprietary macOS Agent.

Supported Operating Systems:

  • macOS 10.15 Catalina
  • macOS 11.0 Big Sur
  • macOS 12.0 Monterey
  • macOS 13.0 Ventura

Mobile Devices

Kandji allows the management of the following mobile devices using Apple's MDM protocol.

Supported Operating Systems:

  • iOS 14 and higher
  • iPadOS 14 and higher
  • tvOS 14 and higher

Additional Requirements

  1. Active internet connection
  2. Free space required is related to applications specified to be deployed to each device.

End of Support

The following operating systems are End of Support in Kandji.

  • macOS 10.14 and earlier
  • iOS 13 and earlier
  • iPadOS 13 and earlier
  • tvOS 13 and earlier

End of Support means that Kandji no longer allows enrollments or provides support for these operating system versions. A device running an operating system that qualifies as End of Support will receive an error response from enrollment attempts and require an update to a supported operating system to enroll with Kandji.

Retirement of Support

The following operating systems are retired in Kandji.

  • macOS 10.14 and earlier
  • iOS 13 and earlier
  • iPadOS 13 and earlier
  • tvOS 13 and earlier

Retirement of Support means that in addition to the above requirements for customer support, devices running unsupported operating systems will be unenrolled from Kandji, and all Kandji software will be removed from the device. Removal of Kandji software is triggered with the following actions:

  • For the macOS Agent, an agent HTTP endpoint informs the agent it should uninstall itself from the device
  • For MDM on macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS, a RemoveProfile command for the root MDM profile

Device records persist in their associated Kandji instance until they are deleted, and will show as “MDM Profile removed.”
