Learn about Automated Device Enrollment Profile statuses
What is a Device Enrollment Profile?
In order for Automated Device Enrollment to work, Kandji assigns a Device Enrollment profile to devices assigned to it in your Apple Business Manager account. This Device Enrollment profile assignment occurs through Apple's Device Assignment Services API. Once Kandji assigns the Device Enrollment profile, the device can be enrolled through Automated Device Enrollment.
What are the possible statuses?
Status | Meaning |
Pending | The profile will be assigned shortly; please refresh the page in a moment. |
Assigned | The Device Enrollment profile for the current Blueprint has been assigned. |
Failed | The Device Enrollment profile has failed to assign, please contact Kandji Support. |
Tip: Hovering over a device's Device Enrollment profile status will show a timestamp with the date and time that the status occurred
Timing Considerations
When a macOS or iOS device connects to the internet during Setup Assistant, it reaches out to Apple to determine if it has a Device Enrollment profile pending. If the device does not have a profile pending at that time, it is allowed to be set up as if it were a consumer Apple device.
It is important that prior to connecting your devices to the internet during Setup Assistant:
- You have assigned your devices to Kandji via Apple Business Manager.
