Tags are a new way to group devices locally in Kandji and can be used with Assignment Rules on both [Classic Blueprints](/v1/docs/creating-a-classic-blueprint) and [Assignment Maps](/v1/docs/assignment-maps-overview). Tags differ from an Asset Tag, which can also be set for a device but only supports one value and is usually used specifically for inventory purposes. ### Tagging a Device To add one or more tags in Kandji, follow these steps. 1. Visit the device record you want to tag. 2. Click **Edit device details.** 3. Select **Edit tags**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/0844b095-d720-4a7b-bb17-ec97d9bc6e41/Images/Documentation/cdvhnom_oblfyjty4wwu6beukcnng4vifa.png) 4. From the dialog that appears, you can select one or more existing tags or type to create your first one — any tags you create become available for any and all devices in your Kandji tenant. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/0844b095-d720-4a7b-bb17-ec97d9bc6e41/Images/Documentation/zpvyh4uuoandxugb4q1rbxxcgyqhhhnmxq.png) ### Managing Tags Using the Manage tags menu, you can manage tags for your tenant from the Devices page. From here, you can: - Add new tags without assigning them to any devices - Rename tags - Delete tags if they’re not used in scoping rules To access the Manage tags menu: 1. Click on **Devices** in the navigation menu on the left-hand side. 2. Click the **ellipses** in the upper right corner of the Devices page. 3. Select **Manage tags**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/0844b095-d720-4a7b-bb17-ec97d9bc6e41/Images/Documentation/Kandji-Support-KB-1002AM@2x.png) 4. In the **Manage tags** modal, you can search for, add, edit, or delete tags. 5. To edit or delete tags, click the ellipses to the right of the tag and select **Edit name** or **Delete tag**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/0844b095-d720-4a7b-bb17-ec97d9bc6e41/Images/Documentation/ajghv1qjsko80dgevnfpenuelawvnrudhg.png) 6.
