Blueprints

Blueprints allow you to define a set of behaviors, Parameters, and Library Items to be deployed to a group of devices. You can have multiple blueprints for different locations, job roles, or testing. Blueprints support all device types, allowing you flexibility when it comes to grouping and managing your fleet.

We’ve created several templates that allow you to easily enforce standards like CIS, or our own recommendations. You can also configure your own Blueprint from the ground up.

Creating a Blueprint:

    1. Navigate to Blueprints in the left-hand navigation bar.
    2. Click New Blueprint from the top right button.
    3. Select a Blueprint from the templates on the left-hand side, or create a New Blueprint.
    1. If you create a New Blueprint, you will give it a name and description. After naming you can add Library Items and enable Parameters to match your business needs.
    2. If you select a template, once your Blueprint is created you can rename the Blueprint, add Library Items, and enable/disable parameters matching your business needs.

Blueprints can be modified at any time. After a change is made, any devices assigned to that Blueprint will receive the new update during their next check-in.

For more detailed information on Blueprints see the Blueprints section of our Knowledge Base.

To add a Library Items to a Blueprint:

  1. Click Blueprints from the left-hand navigation bar.
  2. Click the Blueprint you wish to modify.
  3. Click Edit Library Items.
  4. Use the toggle next to the Library Item you wish to enable to activate it.
  5. Click Save in the top right corner.

Now that you have created your first Blueprint and added some Library Items, let's dive into Parameters.

Parameters

Individual settings deployed via Kandji to any enrolled Mac are known as Parameters. Some Parameters are as simple as "Disable Screen Sharing." More complex parameters may require specified variables, such as disabling specific system preference panes.

To enable or disable a Parameter follow these steps:

  1. Click Blueprints from the left-hand navigation bar.
  2. Click the Blueprint you wish to modify.
  3. Click Edit Parameters.
  4. Use the search menu or scroll to locate the Parameter you would like to enable/disable.
  5. Use the toggle next to the Parameter you wish to enable to activate it.
  6. Click Save in the top right corner.

For more detailed information on Parameters, see the Parameters section of our Knowledge Base.

Now that you are experienced in customizing Parameters for your Blueprint, the last step is to enroll devices.
